Telling Nature’s Stories Through Art
Environmental Art Studio | Sam Gare
“North Harris Studio is a space dedicated to the cross over between art and science, with the aim of sharing the narratives of Scotland's unique Natural Heritage, and the stories of those who call it home.”

The Story…
At heart, I'm a storyteller. I tell stories about Scotland's wildlife, landscapes and natural heritage, choosing the medium that best brings each story to life. Sometimes that's a painting, sometimes a sculpture or mural, and sometimes it's a project that invites people to explore and create alongside me.
My work is inspired by both art and science. I love learning from the natural world and working with scientists, communities and local knowledge to discover new ways of seeing the places and species around us.
Looking after the environment is an important part of what I do. Wherever possible, I use reclaimed, recycled and sustainable materials because I believe the way we make art should reflect the values behind it.
Above all, I hope my work helps people slow down, look a little closer, and discover what the natural world can teach us.
