The Weight of WINGS
Resilience, Loss, and Belonging
“Flight does not erase origin. Every departure draws its strength from home.”
The Weight of Wings is a new work exploring the meaning of home: how it is made, lost, changed, and imagined. Home can be more than a physical place; it can be your body, a culture, or an idea. The project asks what it means to have a home when history, ecology, or personal circumstances disrupt it. Building on my participatory project Keening – Song of the Stranding (2025), this work continues my exploration of interspecies connections within the Scottish environment, recognising humans as part of, not apart from, the natural world.
